The company has developed an industrial 3D printer that can use commonly available third-party materials to create industrial applications. The newly developed Epson 3D printer uses a unique method of extruding material using a flat screw (in-line screw with a flattened configuration), similar to those used in injection molding machines. This method allows you to work with a wide variety of materials such as PEEK granules, resin, metal or biomass.

The amount of extruded material is precisely controlled by regulating the pressure in the head and valve operation depending on the operating speed. The temperature on the surface of the printed element is also controlled in order to obtain the required strength. Epson uses a proprietary system that precisely controls temperature, force and, as a result, accuracy.

Epson intends to launch its 3D printer only after making the necessary improvements. Regardless of this, it will use it on its own to mass-produce some parts for commercial and industrial equipment. The machine will be on display at the company’s stand at the 2022 International Robot Exhibition, which opened on March 9, 2022 in Tokyo Big Sight.
