Eplus3D – Chinese manufacturer of industrial 3D printers, announced the launch of a new system for 3D printing from metal – EP-M450H, which is the largest in the company’s offer and also one of the largest available in the world. The working area of the 3D printer is 455 x 455 x 1100 mm, which translates into over 200 liters of capacity. The device has been designed for 3D printing of large, high-performance parts in sectors such as aviation, automotive and defense industry.

Eplus3D was founded in 2014 as a subsidiary of Shining3D – one of the largest manufacturers of 3D scanners in the world. In September last year, the companies decided to formally split up so that Eplus3D could devote its entirety to the production of industrial machines such as MPBF (Metal Powder Bed Fusion) and PPBF (Polymer Powder Bed Fusion), which is the equivalent of SLM and SLS methods.

The company currently has two plants in Beijing and Hangzhou, China, and invests more than 20% of its revenues in research. After selling its 3D printers to over 40 countries around the world, Eplus3D holds a plethora of invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyrights.

The company’s new EP-M450H 3D printer is equipped with a 500W fiber laser, with a dual laser configuration option that provides a 70% increase in 3D printing efficiency. With scanning speeds of up to 8 m / s, the EP-M450H offers a maximum compilation speed of 55 cm³ / h. Additionally, the manufacturer claims that it is able to achieve a density of printed parts above 99.9% and deviations in mechanical properties below 5%. The EP-M450H features an optimized gas flow design that effectively removes smoke and spatter, all helping to achieve uniform and consistent 3D printing.

On the software side, the printer allows users to apply different process parameters to different sections of the model. For example, parts can be divided into top and bottom surfaces, or primary areas and small areas, with individual settings for each. The system is also complemented by Eplus3D’s proprietary EP-Hatch processing software, which enables users to use optimized scanning strategies to reduce printing time. Additionally, the software can be integrated with Siemens NX software to improve production efficiency.

The EP-M450H 3D printer has been qualified to use a wide range of metal powders: titanium alloys, stainless steel, maraging steel, aluminum alloys, nickel alloys, cobalt-chrome and copper alloys.
