Ultimaker and MakerBot today announced the end of a sensational merger where two of the leading manufacturers of desktop 3D printers will operate under a single brand. The merger was announced in May 2022, and the architects of the entire transaction were the owners of both companies – Stratasys and NPM Capital.

The new name of the combined companies is … UltiMaker. The company will continue to offer its proprietary product lines – MakerBot METHOD, MakerBot Replicator, MakerBot SKETCH, Ultimaker 2+ Connect, Ultimaker S3, Ultimaker S5 and S5 Pro Bundle 3D. The MakerBot CloudPrint and Ultimaker Cura systems will also be developed, as well as the MakerBot platform with free 3D printing models – Thingiverse.

UltiMaker declares that it will work to consolidate its business and production lines, but also plans to increase R&D efforts to develop completely new products for educational and professional users, with new hardware and software upgrades. UltiMaker also claims that the money raised from its investors – Stratasys and NPM Capital, intends to invest in further expansion in the Americas, the EMEA region and Asia-Pacific.
