Nexa3D, a manufacturer of ultra-fast, industrial 3D printers, announced the commercial availability of its new machine – QLS 820, operating in proprietary Quantum Laser Sintering technology. The 3D printer is characterized by high throughput in the production of parts, using thermoplastic materials in the work. It is dedicated primarily to large-scale production – including the processing of high-temperature materials.

The heart of the QLS 820 is a powerful printing engine consisting of four 100W CO2 lasers, which provide four times the speed of 3D printing than other laser sintering technologies. The 3D printer offers a removable workstation for continuous production – when one chamber cools down, another is already installed in the machine, allowing you to continue working. The QLS production system is ready for automation and ready for 24/7 operation.

QLS 820 provides production based on PA11 and PA12 polymers and is compatible with materials with higher processing temperatures such as PA6, at processing temperatures up to 240 ° C. The quad laser offers a 3D printing speed of up to 8 liters per hour and an average packing density of 20%, providing up to four times the productivity compared to other polymer powder 3D printing systems. It has a working area of 350 x 350 x 400 mm, a resolution in the Z axis of 50-200 microns and four CO2 lasers with a power of 100 W.

The system offers an open and automation-ready production management platform that is technology-independent and adaptable for integration – from MES and ES systems to modular post-processing solutions. QLS Command Center is a large touchscreen control station, operated by NexaX software, enabling fleet management, preparation of the 3D printing process and the state of the 3D printer in real time. The 3D printer fleet can be accessed via a computer or mobile device.

A wide temperature range, inert processing atmosphere and an open source platform allow the printing of many materials, including PA 12, PA 11, polypropylene, PBT, as well as aluminum, glass and fiber-filled plastics. Polyamide PA 12 is available now, and PA 11, Filled PA 12 and PBT will be available in Q4 2022.
