New Somos resins for investment casting

Covestro – a producer of consumables for photopolymer 3D printers, introduces Somos WaterShed AF – a new stereolithographic resin, dedicated to the creation of castings using the investment casting method. Designed for casting certain special metal alloys, the resin provides clean burnout with a low residual ash content.

Somos WaterShed AF is highly dimensionally stable due to low moisture absorption, thanks to which the parts retain their dimensions and mechanical properties, even in changing environmental conditions. This is especially important in tight tolerance applications such as aerospace, transportation and energy.

The resin can create precise, complex patterns with a perfect surface finish. Low viscosity makes parts easy to print and easy to clean – typical of all Somos WaterShed resins.
