British company Photocentric – manufacturer of Liquid Crystal photopolymer 3D printers and the inventor of 3D printing based on LCD screens, joined forces with Mechnano to produce nanoengineered resin with anti-electrostatic properties (ESD), which makes it ideal for the production of electronic components.

Mechnano’s patented MechT technology enables the use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in additive manufacturing materials, providing significantly increased strength as well as additional properties. CNTs are harder than diamond, 10,000 times smaller than a human hair, 100 times stronger than steel, and 1,000 times more conductive than copper. Extensive research and development of this technology by Mechnano has solved the problem of clumping of CNTs into knots, which now allows them to transfer the above-mentioned properties to resins.

“We are delighted to be working with Mechnano to deliver what we believe will be a great innovation for the electronics manufacturing industry coupled with our proficiency in resin development,” said Paul Anfinson, CEO of Photocentric USA 3D Inc. “ESD damage is a huge problem in this sector, and this solves the previous challenge when it comes to additive manufacturing, and our nano-engineered resin not only strengthens the product, but also gives the material the necessary ESD properties. The addition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) opens up many more exciting applications for our additive manufacturing solutions. ”
