Kimya – a French manufacturer of industrial materials for 3D printing, has strengthened cooperation with Stratasys by purchasing two Fortus 450mc 3D printers based on FDM technology. The purchase follows the recent announcement that Kimya is supplying two high-performance industrial filaments to Stratasys customers.

Kimya has established a constantly evolving material development program that offers FDM 3D printer customers a greater choice of advanced high performance filaments. At the same time, the French company is expanding its service offering in France with the Fortus 450mc platform at the production level, enabling it to deliver functional, ready-made parts to end customers.

By expanding its offering beyond the development of advanced materials, the Kimya Factory will lead the newly established production arm to meet the demanding needs of customers for printed parts in key industrial sectors such as railways and energy. According to the French manufacturer, thanks to its fire-resistant properties, Kimya PC-FR is perfectly suited for both passenger and commercial rail applications, from small parts such as seat components to spare parts and more.

Kimya PC-FR fireproof polycarbonate material meets the EN45545 standard and R1-HL2 fire hazard scale for the European railway industry. In turn, Kimya Kepstan PEKK-SC is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic PEKK polymer based on Arkema’s Kepstan. This high-performance material has excellent mechanical properties, resistance to elevated temperatures, abrasion and chemicals including acids and hydrocarbons such as fuel and lubricants. Kimya PEKK-SC also meets RoHS and REACH standards, railway fire and smoke standard EN45545, flammability standard FAR 25.853 in aviation and is fireproof in accordance with UL94 V0.

Kimya plans to further strengthen its cooperation with Stratasys in the development of production-grade filaments for various industrial sectors.
