Creality presents the new CR-Scan Ferret 3D scanner

The Chinese manufacturer of 3D printers Creality has presented a new 3D scanner – CR-Scan Ferret. The device comes with a new application and software designed with ease of use in mind. Like most Creality products on the market, its key advantage is its low price.

The CR-Scan Ferret is equipped with a sophisticated ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) that provides deep processing of megapixel images at 60 frames per second. The processing speed is more than ten times faster than standard chips. The computing chip ensures that Ferret will be able to maintain a scan frame rate of up to 30 frames per second, ensuring smooth and fast scanning with light workload and lower power consumption.

The 3D scanner includes two different modes of operation – wide range scanning and high accuracy scanning. The wide-angle mode quickly scans large objects, consisting of a single capture range up to 560*820mm, covering a large area and allowing users to modify the distance for medium and large objects. Users can scan items as large as engines, car doors and rear bumpers. Also, Ferret uses visual tracking instead of markup. Users don’t need to apply anything to objects before 3D scanning, which means it tracks them automatically. High accuracy mode accurately scans medium and small objects. It has an accuracy of 0.1 mm and a resolution of 0.16 mm, ensuring high quality and capturing more details.

What’s more, Creality claims that Ferret offers a realistic scanning effect, as well as greater coverage thanks to the built-in camera and high technical durability. Ferret captures full-color textures and automatically maps them to the 3D model using the built-in high-resolution color camera, allowing users to create high-quality scans in vibrant colors.

The nominal price of the 3D scanner is EUR 399, however, it can currently be purchased in a European store at a promotional price of EUR 359.
