3D Systems wins a contract for the US Air Force to create a large-format metal 3D printing system

3D Systems announced that it has received a $10.8 million contract from the United States Air Force to develop a large-format metal 3D printer. The contract supports the development of large-scale 3D printing capabilities based on hypersonic technology. Work will be performed in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and San Diego, California, with an estimated project completion date of September 29, 2025.

3D Systems has been cooperating with the US Department of Defense to develop additive manufacturing since 2019. Thanks to the contract, the company will improve additive manufacturing technology in the field of hypersonic technology. This contract not only symbolizes progress in metal additive manufacturing, but also highlights the continued trust and cooperation between the private and defense sectors.
