3D Systems has announced an agreement to acquire Oqton – an IT company developing Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) systems. The transaction is to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2021, and its value will amount to USD 180 million. Settlement will include cash and shares of 3D Systems, with Oqton software sales expected to exceed $ 100 million by 2025.

Oqton’s MOS platform enables the automation of scalable digital manufacturing processes that rely on the Industrial Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its services are used by the absolute top companies in the 3D printing industry: HP, EOS, Stratasys, Trumpf, Prodways, Sandvik and 3D Systems itself. Despite the acquisition, Oqton will continue to operate as an independent organization and will ensure the confidentiality and security of data held by its clients.

At the same time, 3D Systems will strive to extend the availability of its programs such as 3DXpert, 3D Sprint, Geomagic for the entire additive manufacturing industry as optional add-ons to the Oqton MOS platform. The Additive Works Amphyon platform will also be available there.
