VoxelMatters publishes new market reports on 3D ceramic printing

VoxelMatters – a publishing and analytical company specializing in tracking the global 3D printing industry, has published market reports on technical and traditional additive manufacturing from ceramics. The reports, titled “Technical Ceramic AM Market 2023” and “Traditional Ceramic & Sand AM Market 2023“, contain information on the sales and business activities of all major companies currently operating in these segments, obtained from 171 companies. VoxelMatters estimates that by 2032, the technical ceramics 3D printing market will reach $2 billion, and the traditional ceramics and sand 3D printing market will reach $1.7 billion.

New market research, based on VoxelMatters’ updated database of companies specializing in ceramic 3D printing, provides the most comprehensive analyzes and forecasts of the global market. For the first time, the technical and traditional ceramics 3D printing segments have been divided into independent reports to reflect the very different characteristics of each industrial segment. Technical ceramics are characterized by the production of small, advanced parts, while traditional ceramics concern foundry applications and large-format sand molds.

VoxelMatters projects the technical ceramics 3D printing segment to grow from $113 million in 2022 to $2 billion in revenue by 2032, at a 33.5% CAGR. Meanwhile, revenues in the traditional ceramics and sand 3D printing segment will grow from $137 million to $1.7 billion, representing a 30.4% CAGR over the same period.

3D printing of technical ceramics

The new 200-page report – with over 128 data charts and tables – focuses on technical ceramics used in 3D printing to produce high-performance parts that typically weigh just a few grams. Using the VoxelMatters Directory – the world’s largest directory of companies creating additive industries, which includes over 6,800 companies, the team identified 108 that specialize in 3D printing of technical ceramics. Among them, 24 are 3D printer manufacturers, 40 are material suppliers, and 44 provide services.

The companies described include: 10dim Tech, 3DCERAM, Admatec and Formatec (part of Nano Dimension), AON, BMF, Bosch Advanced Ceramics, CERHUM, Desktop Metal and ExOne, Goodman Technologies, iLaser, KRAHN Ceramics, Kyocera Fine Ceramics , Lithoz, Nanoe, nScrypt, Schunk Carbon Technology, Steinbach, Tethon 3D, voxeljet, WZR Ceramic Solutions, XJet, Zipro.

Key insights from the report:
  • in 2022, revenues from the sale of 3D printers of this type accounted for 53% of the market
  • the market is dominated by technologies based on photopolymerization (VPP)
  • the largest companies producing 3D printers in 2022 in terms of revenue are: Lithoz, 3DCeram, Desktop Metal, iLaser and XJet
  • Ceramic-doped photopolymer materials accounted for 54% of revenues
  • the 3D printing services sector in this segment is expected to grow significantly, with an expected CAGR of 35%
  • companies based in the EMEA region generated the highest revenues in 2022, totaling $34.29 million.
