As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and the threat is not over, NanoHack comes with another protective mask design. The company may be associated with NanoHack 2.0, based on N95 protective masks. The new NanoHack Maverick protective mask is the equivalent of the N99 masks, so it provides much higher protection against bacteria and microbes than its predecessor.

The NanoHack Maverick is made of a flexible, non-porous, biocompatible material doped with copper nanoparticles, developed by Copper 3D. The material has an antimicrobial effect, and the mask ensures a perfect fit to the contour of the user’s face and tight protection against bacteria. The Maverick is available in three colors: Cobalt with Orange, Orange with Cobalt and Purple.

The filter for the NanoHack Maverick mask consists of a triple layer of non-woven polypropylene of different density, similar to that used in surgical masks and N95. These filters also contain an additional layer of copper-based antimicrobial material to form an active antibacterial filter. This filter system has been tested according to the OSHA protocol with an efficiency equal to the N99 standard.

Mask specification:
  • The NanoHack Maverick mask is made of flexible plastic doped with antibacterial copper nanoparticles.
  • The sealing ring system inside the mask helps to place the filters in the correct position. It is also made of an anti-bacterial material developed by Copper3D.
  • The mask contains a three-layer filter, complete with a sealing ring system.
  • A three-layer non-woven polypropylene filter embedded in an antibacterial copper-based additive complies with the standard for N99 masks.
  • The flexible attachment of the mask ensures wearing comfort.

The mask can be used freely in public spaces, but be sure to replace the filters every 24 hours. Before and after changing the filter, wash your hands according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. Correct fitting of the NanoHack Maverick mask is essential, so proper tension of the rubber bands securing the mask to the face is essential to ensure proper protection. Nevertheless, it cannot be attached too tightly so as not to damage the facial skin during use.

For healthcare professionals working in close contact with the patient’s airway, the use of a full face shield or goggles in addition to the NanoHack Maverick mask is recommended.

Active system of antibacterial filters

NanoHack Maverick contains an active antibacterial filter system, consisting of three layers of non-woven polypropylene with different densities. The filter has been tested and validated according to the OSHA protocol 29CFR1910.134 using the QNFT test method using the PortaCount TSI. The level of protection provided by this active filter corresponds to the standards for N99 protective masks.

NanoHack Maverick provides the highest protection against microbes and bacteria among other available types of masks. Additionally, it is a reusable personal protective device, and thus – environmentally friendly. It can be used for years, provided the filters are replaced regularly.

The NanoHack mask comes with a 7-day set of filters. They should be replaced every day, at least every 24 hours. In the absence of access to dedicated filters, you can use two layers of a cotton t-shirt, a fragment of a vacuum cleaner bag or a surgical mask, according to the Anna Davies classification.

NanoHack Maverick is not available as an open source project like its predecessor and can be purchased through distributors: Hack the Pandemic, Copper3D and Precise. The cost of such a protective mask is about $ 25, but it is worth remembering that its service life is much longer than that of traditional counterparts. In addition, Maverick offers the highest protection against SARS-COV-2 causing COVID-19.
