MakerBot has it ups and downs, however it is unequalled in popularising 3D printing in the world. TIME has published recently a list of 50 most influential gadgets of all time. MakerBota – Replicatora 2 was number, but when you compare it with famous Nokia 3210, SONY Playstation, Apple Macintosh or Commodore, it is just a great success.

MakerBot presented Replicator 2 is September 2012 and was elicited euphoria of fans of low-budget 3D printers. A former CEO of the company – Bre Pettis decided for interesting design and  simplicity of use.  The design was totally unique and classy, because it was one of the first desktop 3D printers. When you compared it with another 3D printers with construction based on threaded bars wound with cable and their calibration was a serious nightmare, it was obvious, that Replicator 2 was doomed to success. 4 years passed from its official premiere but the device is still popular.

In the TIME’s rakning Replicator 2 was placed before Google Glass and Seagway was number 48. This close “neighbourhood” is not a reason to be proud of, because they are rather symbols, than really great and useful solutions, but another products from the lists are just legends.  How does the list of the 50 most influential gadgets of all time look like?

As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, the presence of the 3D printer in the ranking is one of the symbols of all times.
