If you have already had the opportunity to order 3D printing services, you can easily cope with the proper preparation of the file for the valuation and description of the order in the form. If your experience with additive manufacturing has been limited so far, you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions at the bottom of the page.

Production from polyamides PA12, TPU (SLS):

    What file format should I send for quote?

    Preferably with the .STL extension. It is the most common format in 3D printing and it is most often the basis for starting an implementation. Even if we evaluate the project based on a different format, we will ask for a file in .STL or related .3MF format before launching the order. If the preparation of this type of file / model is impossible, we will gladly undertake the service of its design.

    Other acceptable formats: .3MF .OBJ .STP.

    Where to get the .STL file?

    Historically, the .STL format was created in 1984, and since then, the vast majority of 3D design / modeling programs have the ability to export to this extension. The model saved in the .STL format is a mesh of triangles that creates its geometry. There is no information about the color, material or surface roughness (unless someone design one).

    Is it possible to price a 3D print from a photo or a flat technical drawing?

    If you are interested in a reliable valuation – the answer is “NO”. Based on photos, sketches, and flat technical drawings, we can only “more or less” estimate the complexity of the production, however, the margin of error can be up to 30% of the actual value of the order. Based on photos or illustrative drawings, we are not able to determine the exact material consumption and time needed for production, and these two factors are decisive in the offer of 3D prints.

    Can you tell the price of 3D printing over the phone?

    Yes, provided that you send us the 3D model in the correct format for the valuation in advance. Describing and dimensioning projects during telephone calls does not allow us to provide any reliable valuation and is not practiced by us.
