Desktop Metal announces the installation of over 1,100 metal 3D printers worldwide

Desktop Metal announced that by early December 2022, the total number of installations of its metal 3D printing systems exceeded 1,100 units worldwide. This also accounts for over 80% of all 3D printers sold and installed.

The company also claims that among the sand 3D printing systems that are used for the final production of metal castings, more than half of the installed machines are in multi-system plants dedicated to high-volume mass production applications. At the same time, a significant number of metal 3D printers is used for 3D printing of technical ceramics – most often silicon carbide.

Desktop Metal offers a wide portfolio of 3D printers working in binder jetting technology. In addition to metal and ceramic 3D printers, the company’s ExOne brand offers world-leading sand-binding jet systems for digital metal casting. In turn, the newly launched Forust brand offers a 3D-printable binder made of recycled wood waste.

The company’s portfolio offers eight mass production solutions for metal 3D printing:

  • The Production System P-50 – The world’s fastest metal binder jetting system offering the lowest cost per part with Single Pass Spraying (SPJ) technology
  • X160Pro – The world’s largest binder spray system for both metal and ceramic production, featuring Triple Advanced Compaction Technology (ACT)
  • S-Max Pro – The best-selling brand of 3D printing systems for sand molds and cores for casting aluminum and ferrous metals
  • S-Max Flex – Affordable 3D printing system for digital sandcasting
  • Production System P-1 – The best-selling binder jetting 3D printing platform for volume production
  • InnoventX – The best-selling metal binder jetting system in the academic community
  • The Shop System – binder jetting system for metal
  • Studio System – a system that uses the FDM / FFF method in the work, using metallic wire in the work.
