SPEE3D – an Australian manufacturer of super-fast 3D printers for metal, presented its latest XSPEE3D machine – a container and mobile 3D printer that uses the technique of cold spraying metallic powder. The machine provides all the functions necessary to start 3D printing parts from anywhere in minutes. XSPEE3D was designed based on extensive field research and collaboration with the Australian Army.
XSPEE3D is embedded in a standard container. The 3D printer is easy to use and implement, requiring only an electrical connection. When it is energized, parts production can begin virtually immediately. According to SPEE3D, its latest 3D printer is 1000 times faster than other additive manufacturing options and can print one or many parts simultaneously. SPEE3D hopes that the ability to deploy a 3D printer in remote locations will maximize productivity, strengthen inventories and be one solution to the collapse of the global supply chain.
“One of the most important issues facing the military today is the ability to address critical spare parts requirements in the field, a challenge that worsens in the face of global supply chain problems,” said Byron Kennedy, CEO of SPEE3D. “With the introduction of XSPEE3D, we solve this problem by enabling reliable and inexpensive metal parts to be manufactured from anywhere, including harsh military environments.“
XSPEE3D can print parts from more than 12 metal alloys, including copper, stainless steel, titanium, high-strength aluminum, and nickel-based carbides. A key aspect of its military capability is resistance to extreme heat and uneven terrain. SPEE3D also states that the machine uses the power of kinetic energy, rather than “relying on powerful lasers and expensive gases.”
