New, flexible Filaflex SEBS filament from Spanish Recreus

The Spanish manufacturer of filaments Recreus has introduced Filaflex SEBS, a new rubber-polyolefin material for 3D printing, combining flexibility and durability with insulation properties, water resistance as well as chemical, thermal and UV resistance. The new filament is available in 2 colors (natural and black) with two different spool sizes (0.6 and 2.5 kg) with diameters of 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm.

The material provides a high-quality finish to parts and a wide range of industrial applications. These include the production of flexible gaskets, insulation components, applications used in marine conditions and other demanding environments.

Filaflex SEBS has a Shore hardness of 90A and, according to Recreus, is resistant to autoclaving cycles for parts requiring sterilization. It is also electrically insulating. Chemical resistance properties include resistance to oils, fuels, solvents and salt water.

Filaflex SEBS is intended as a technical filament for industry and an alternative to PVC. It is ideal for 3D printing of parts that need to absorb vibrations and / or retain their elastic properties even when exposed to high temperatures. It is also ideal for printing external parts exposed to weather conditions, such as shoes, rubber products and toys, industrial products (belts and straps, anti-vibration mountings, protectors, bottles and containers, anti-skid systems, glass covers), sports articles (e.g. masks, waterproof seals or diving fins and ski poles, pedals) accessories for car interiors (handles, soft-touch finishes, waterproof seals, protectors, floor mats, etc.).

3D printing parameters:
  • temperature: 240-260°C
  • 3D printing speed: 20-40 mm/s
  • printbed temperature: 50-60°C
  • retraction: 40-60 mm/s at a distance of 2-3 mm
  • cooling: 0-20% (0% recommended for better grip)
  • flow: 100% (increasing the width of the first layer by 5-10% improves adhesion)
  • Shore hardness: 90A
  • additional information: the first layer should adhere well to the surface of the printbed, therefore it is recommended to use brim on 10-20 lines; adhesives should be used for 3D printing of small objects.
