RICOH will present at the Formnext fair in Frankfurt am Main a new 3D printer – Binder Jet Metal, which uses proprietary technology for bonding metal powders with sprayed binder. Thanks to this machine, the company will enter the dynamically developing market of devices of this type, led by Desktop Metal and its ExOne, and HP also announced its accession a few years ago.
Binder Jetting technology is one of the fastest and most cost-effective additive methods using metal powders as material. The printed parts must undergo additional post-processing consisting in baking them in high-temperature ovens.
RICOH is a leading manufacturer of traditional printing systems in the world, which has also been very active in the additive technology sector for several years. First, the company was the main distributor of 3D Systems in the UK, to enter the market in 2015 with its own large-format SLS 3D printing system, offering, among others, production of propylene components.
The company has established a large additive manufacturing center in Great Britain and is expanding its product portfolio in cooperation with, inter alia, with BASF and Solvay. Recently, RICOH has established cooperation with the American company Impossible Objects in the area of distribution in Europe of innovative composite technology using continuous fibers.
