Four leading companies in the medical device manufacturing industry – EOS, Tecomet, Orthopedic Innovation Center (OIC) and Precision ADM – have announced a partnership aimed at offering comprehensive solutions for 3D printing in the medical sector. The partnership covers a range of services, from early stage engineering and design, through 510k approval pathways, device and machine validation, pre-clinical testing, to commercialization of developed solutions.
EOS says the use of 3D printing in the medical device market is growing exponentially due to the proven benefits for patients of 3D printed applications, as well as the uncertainties in global supply chains where industrial 3D printing has proven to be more resilient.
For EOS, the new partnership provides customers with a complete solution – from product design and process development, through large-scale production, to testing, validation and submission for certification by the FDA. According to the company, the advantage for manufacturers of medical applications is a significant reduction in product development time, time to market and overall risk.
In the partnership announcement, EOS detailed the benefits each company brings to the partnership. EOS is a leader in the production of 3D printers for metal and powdered plastics; Tecomet specializes in precision manufacturing of medical devices and components; OIC provides accredited medical device testing and contract research services to the orthopedic industry; Precision ADM offers comprehensive engineering and contracting services for the medical device industry.
EOS says the team of companies is enabling medical device manufacturers to shorten the time to market.
