Zortrax announces that in September this year. begins research work under a contract signed with the European Space Agency, which in turn signed a contract with Astronika. Zortrax is one of the contract subcontractors – the third company participating in the project is CRIDO R&D. The total contract value is € 175,000.00 and its completion is scheduled for 2023.
The subject of the contract is to conduct research and tests aimed at developing a technology for covering with metallic coatings 3D prints made of high-temperature polymers such as PEEK. Astronika is to be the project leader and will be responsible for the construction of some instruments for the American InSight probe currently operating on the surface of Mars.
One of Astronika’s subcontractors is Zortrax, which will be responsible for 3D prints using additive manufacturing technology and polymer materials that meet the requirements of the space industry. CRIDO R&D sp. Z o.o. sp. k. will be responsible for the technology of applying metallic coatings to the prints.
The research work is scheduled to start in September 2021 and will last approximately 18 months. The total contract value is € 175,000 and the part of the contract that Zortrax is responsible for is € 54,500. Depending on the course of cooperation, it may be extended in the future by further contracts between Zortrax and the European Space Agency.
