Zortrax announced the signing of a letter of intent with a British company specializing in the production of advanced resins – AM Center of Intelligence (AM-COE), under which the companies will start cooperation in creating a 3D printer designed for 3D printing from demanding and advanced ceramic resins. Additionally, Zortrax will supply AM-COE with the devices it manufactures.
As for the partnership between the two companies, Zortrax has the necessary experience in creating photopolymer 3D printers, automatic post-processing devices, a wide range of resins, as well as 3D printing software that supports resin printing. AM-COE, on the other hand, has professional research facilities and the ability to produce specialized resins.
The Zortrax R&D team has been working with resin 3D printing on a daily basis for many years. Last year saw the premiere of a new comprehensive resin printing system, Zortrax Powerful Trio, which consists of the Zortrax Inkspire 2 resin 3D printer and two automatic devices for post-processing of resin prints – Zortrax Cleaning Station and Zortrax Curing Station (printout curing station). A number of technical improvements introduced in Powerful Trio, as well as cooperation with world leaders in the chemical industry, BASF Forward AM and Henkel/Loctite in the double validation of Zortrax machines and expanding the portfolio of resins, allowed to gain experience that should result in cooperation with AM-COE and working on a new, specialized 3D printer designed to work with ceramic resins.
As part of the cooperation aimed at selling 3D printers to AM-COE, Zortrax will be responsible for the production of devices with embedded software (firmware) and the implementation of the Z-SUITE software, intended strictly for the preparation of ceramic resin models for 3D printing on a printer created as part of project.
In addition, Zortrax will be responsible for the warranty of the 3D printer and current updates of the aforementioned software. AM-COE will provide consulting services in the field of 3D printing from ceramic resins, will distribute the new 3D printer, and will be responsible for testing the software before each subsequent update, in particular in terms of ensuring the correct printing of ceramic resins.
