Zortrax has introduced a new resin with ceramic filling to the material offer – BASF Ultracur3D RG 3280, dedicated to the Zortrax Inkspire 2 3D printer. The material is characterized by exceptional hardness, high stiffness and excellent resistance to temperatures reaching up to 280ºC. It also has a stable particle dispersion and low viscosity, which makes it easy to handle and 3D print. Elements printed in 3D on Zortrax Inkspire 2 and processed on Zortrax Cleaning Station and Zortrax Curing Station show features similar to ceramics without the need for special furnaces. The high content of ceramic particles ensures the ceramic look of the target models.
Although the ceramic-filled resin is a high-performance, specialized photopolymer with unique properties, using it with Zortrax Powerful Trio (Inkspire 2 + Cleaning Station + Curing Station) is easy and convenient. It starts with model preparation in Z-SUITE, where users can find a ready-made, calibrated profile for the new resin. Users receive suggestions for the proper processing of models, thanks to which they will know the appropriate rinsing and curing time for 3D prints. In the case of parts made of new resin with ceramic filling, post-processing in Zortrax Cleaning Station takes only about 10-20 seconds, while in Zortrax Curing Station it can take about 30 minutes for each side of the model.
BASF Ultracur3D RG 3280 resin is characterized by high stiffness (up to 10 GPa), excellent HDT values and a Shore (D) hardness of up to 96. Despite the high content of ceramic particles, the resin has a low viscosity and its sedimentation is limited, which translates into maximum ease of use and 3D printing quality.
Thanks to such properties as resistance to corrosion, temperature, shape change, melting, stretching and deformation, ceramic materials are widely used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics, metallurgy, energy and chemical industries. 3D printed components with BASF Ultracur3D RG 3280 exhibit high rigidity and no electrical conductivity.
The resin is therefore an excellent choice for 3D printing devices required in specific manufacturing processes, such as ceramic handling arms that move wafers from one station to another, or positioning pins used in pressure welding. The resin is recommended for all production processes where the components must provide highly desirable mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties and act as non-conductive thermal insulation that does not interfere with the welding process.
