Wimba creates orthoses for dogs using HP Multi JetFusion technology

To start the production of individual orthotic and prosthetic medical devices for dogs, the Wimba start-up from Krakow, whose mission is to revolutionize the care of dogs, invested in the HP Multi Jet Fusion service. During the production process, Wimba uses the services of the Belgian company ZiggZagg.

Founded in October 2022, Wimba aims to innovate the field of personalized orthopedic supplies by creating products that restore the freedom of movement of animals. Brothers Franciszek and Grzegorz Kosch came up with the idea after their previous company, Glaze Prosthetics, was the first in the world to design a human upper limb prosthesis based on the capabilities of HP’s MJF technology. Glaze Prosthetics was born in 2017 after one of its founders 3D printed a personalized prosthetic arm for a friend. The founders saw a gap in the market for amputees who wanted a lightweight and durable prosthetic arm that could also be personalized.

Wimba offers a range of orthopedic products for animals printed in MJF technology. Key to Wimby’s products is HP’s industrial-grade 3D printing technology and HP digital printing machines for business. Thanks to them, Wimby prostheses can function properly and offer both lightness in use and durability.

The main challenges Wimba faces in his work are the length of production time and the accuracy required in the process from taking initial measurements to the final model of the prosthesis. HP technology helped the company reduce its lead time from six weeks (conventional method) to just seven business days. The new WimbaScan app has also reduced the time it takes to take measurements from over an hour to just 15 minutes (all you need is a smartphone).

Wimba offers not only orthoses, but also prostheses and WimbaTherapy – a comprehensive system for the treatment of movement disorders in animals, which will appear in the company’s offer in the first quarter of 2023, after the completion of clinical trials.
