UltiMaker today announced the premiere of a new 3D printer – Method XL, designed for engineering applications. The new device offers 3D printing in a working area of 305 x 305 x 320 mm, using two print heads made of industrial-grade materials and a dimensional accuracy of ± 0.2 mm.
Method XL is designed to create large, complex parts from industrial materials such as ABS-R and ABS doped with carbon fiber. The closed heating chamber, which can reach a temperature of up to 100 ° C, eliminates the problem of shrinkage when working with ABS, one of the most popular, but at the same time the most difficult materials for 3D printing in FDM technology, due to the tendency to warp and deform. New to the Method series is a heated build table which, combined with a temperature-controlled chamber, creates a stable environment for producing accurate and strong parts of any size.
Method XL uses RapidRinse, a fast soluble support material that works perfectly with ABS and enables printing on a wide range of industrial materials thanks to its open media platform and LABS print head. Materials currently available in the LABS program include: Jabil SEBS – a soft material with properties similar to rubber, Polymaker PolyMax PC – a polycarbonate that combines strength, hardness and heat resistance, and LEHVOSS PAHT 9891 – a carbon nylon fiber resistant to high temperatures.
Method XL also offers an external moisture-controlled material bin, guaranteeing maximum performance of professional-grade materials. The 3D printer is equipped with a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter.
