The largest printed building in Europe is being built in Germany

PERI 3D Construction – a German pioneer in the field of 3D printing of buildings, has partnered with KRAUS GRUPPE – a developer and property manager, to create the largest printed building in Europe. The investment is being carried out in Heidelberg, Germany. The building is being built for Heidelberg IT Management GmbH & Co. KG – providers of cloud and data center solutions.

The project uses a construction 3D printer – COBOD BOD2. With it, PERI plans to complete the 3D printing of the walls of the facility in just 140 hours, which translates to 4 square meters of space per hour. The finished building will measure 54 meters in length, 11 meters in width and 9 meters in height. Construction work began on March 31, 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of July this year.

The project was an initiative of the KRAUS GRUPPE and architects from SSV Architekten and Mense Korte were responsible for the design of the walls. The visualizations of the building show modern, unique wall designs that fit into the future image of the Heidelberg IT Management IT center.

“As an independent family business with a long tradition, we want to promote innovative construction methods in Heidelberg and make a positive contribution to sustainable construction methods,” said Hans-Jörg Kraus, managing partner of the KRAUS GRUPPE. “Based on parametric design, the special wall construction used in the building represents the enormous design freedom that the COBOD BOD2 3D printer provides. We are very proud to be able to realize our largest building to date with this project,” said Dr. Fabian Meyer-Brötz, Managing Director of PERI 3D Construction GmbH.
