Stephen Nigro – head of the 3D printing department at HP, announced that with the beginning of 2019 he will retire. Christoph Schell, who is currently the president of the US branch of the company, will take his place. The official takeover of the duties of the head of the 3D printing department will take place on November 1, 2018.

Stephen Nigro has been working at HP for 37 years and was the main architect of the company’s entry project into the 3D printing industry. He had a key influence, among others for the development of MultiJetFusion technology and starting cooperation with Microsoft and other companies as part of creating a new file format for 3D printing in the form of .3MF. His deputy – Christoph Schell, has been an HP employee for two decades. Since the autumn of this year, his mission will be to expand into 3D printing markets around the world and to build the HP brand as a leading 3D solutions provider.
