One of the most desirable things in 3D printing that is very difficult to achieve is full transparency of 3D prints. It is possible to be achieved only in 3D printing technologies from light-curing resins, however, here too, we have to take into account many quality compromises. 3D prints of this type are often “translucent” and far from the expected “transparency”. Additionally, resins tend to turn yellow when exposed to natural UV radiation. Now Stratasys announces a solution to this problem…

The newly introduced post-processing device – Stratasys ProBleacher, is a photo bleach that allows users of 3D printers printing PolyJet parts to achieve full transparency. To ensure optimal photo-bleaching results, the device has been equipped with touchscreen controls that facilitate operation and ensure that users can achieve maximum transparency and remove yellowness.

ProBleacher allows you to control the wavelength and intensity of the UV light, as well as control the time and temperature. Unfortunately, the device is only compatible with prints made of VeroClear, VeroUltra Clear and VeroUltra ClearS, which are used in Stratasys PolyJet technology. Of course, there is a real chance for effective photobleaching of 3D prints made of other materials and other 3D printing technologies from light-curing resins, however, the manufacturer does not give any guarantees for this.
