3D Systems has achieved FDA 510(k) certification for its NextDent Base material, which is designed to support the additive manufacturing of bases in complete or semi-removable dentures. The material, which also received the CE 1639 marking, is the third generation of base material for the additive manufacturing of prostheses. The resin is highly resistant to cracking, as well as accurate and repeatable 3D printing, thanks to which patients receive durable, impact-resistant prostheses.
3D Systems has developed a portfolio of 30 NextDent resins and believes this is the largest number available from any supplier of dental 3D printing materials. The newest of these resins, NextDent Base, was launched in March this year with the LCD1 3D printer. The material is available in four colors corresponding to various aesthetics and is immediately available to order. Dental laboratories in the UK and USA have already tested the material in trial tests.
“Our goal is to ensure that our solutions meet the needs of our customers, and this is another step toward achieving that goal,” offered Chuck Stapleton, vice president and general manager of dental at 3D Systems. “By achieving certification for NextDent Base, we continue to expand our portfolio of dental 3D printing materials that enable dental laboratories and clinics to implement a wide range of applications. This offering helps our customers accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing in their workflows and deliver new levels of speed, productivity, efficiency and precision, while providing opportunities to improve the patient experience.”
