Plastics processing is currently one of the fastest and most dynamically developing industries in the world. Unfortunately, the sector of the 3D printing does not keep up with all the latest trends, largely due to a number of technological limitations that additive technologies bring with them. In other words – 3D printing based on thermoplastics is still far behind compared to what, for example, injection molding machines offer.

It does not mean, however, that nothing changes in this field! Evonik – one of the largest industrial concerns in the world, is constantly working on expanding the range of materials in the 3D printing segment. His latest achievement in this field is the creation of a dedicated for 3D printers PEBA – elastic elastomer, characterized by high durability and chemical resistance. The material is produced in powder form for SLS machines, and its capabilities are tested by a leading manufacturer of this type of 3D printers in the world – EOS.

3D prints of powdered PEBA are flexible, chemically resistant, and their temperature resistance ranges from -40°C to 90°C. The material is well-suited both in the production of prototypes and final elements in additive serial production. Evonik will present its new material in the 3D printing version during the upcoming Fakuma fair, which will be held on October 16-20, 2018 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
