Another month – another acquisition by Desktop Metal. The company announced the purchase of Aidro, a manufacturer of 3D-printed hydraulic systems. The nearly 40-year-old Italian company specializes in the design and production of valves, manifolds and various hydraulic components and fluid supply systems for a wide range of industries, from oil and gas to aviation and agriculture. In 2017, under the leadership of CEO and President of Aidro, Valeria Tirelli, the company incorporated additive technologies into its production activities, becoming a pioneer and leader in the field of 3D printing of this type of applications.
Aidro has joined the ever-growing list of companies that were purchased by Desktop Metal in 2021 – EnvisionTEC, Adaptive3D, Aerosint and ExOne. Desktop Metal Founder and CEO Ric Fulop said this latest acquisition is part of Desktop Metal’s strategy to support major customers in designing and manufacturing parts using 3D metal printing technology.
Fulop continued: “Aidro brings a talented team with years of experience in manufacturing hydraulic systems and a passion for using additive technology to deliver performance benefits to customers. We are excited about the acquisition and look forward to producing high volume hydraulics, valves, fluid supply systems and many other end parts being developed together with Aidro. “
