3D printing software

Desktop Metal introduces the “Live Suite” software package to manage the work of all 3D printers it offers

Desktop Metal announced the launch of a software package supporting the management of 3D printing systems of its proprietary 3D printers – Desktop Metal and Desktop Health, as well as ETEC (former EnvisionTEC) and ExOne acquired in recent years. The package is called Live Suite and consists of Live Sinter, Live Parts, Live Build MFG, Live Build DLP and Live Studio.

Live Suite introduces three new software tools to complement its simulation software, Live Sinter, and the generative design tool, Live Parts. The programs allow users to better manage the preparation of models for 3D printing, the 3D printers themselves, accessories and processes in one cloud-based environment. The software package will ship as standard with Desktop Metal’s “most new hardware” this year, eliminating the need for the company’s customers to purchase other software. Users of existing Desktop Metal hardware will be able to access software updates starting today or until the end of 2023.

New program – Live Build MFG is a desktop-based build preparation software that replaces and updates the Fabricate MFG application. The program will support the preparation of compilations for all projects implemented in the Binder Jetting technology. Users of ExOne X-Prep or similar tools will be migrated to Live Build MFG within the next 12 months.

Live Build DLP will offer similar build capabilities for users of Desktop Health and ETEC digital light processing printers. Those customers who can currently use Envision One RP will also be migrated to Live Build DLP next year.

Live Studio is a cloud-based software tool that supports build preparation for Desktop Metal’s Bound Metal Deposition systems, such as Studio System 2.

These tools complement the Live Sinter platform, which works to predict and generate sinter-ready 3D printing designs for Desktop Metal Shop System, X-Series, and Production System users.
