German BigRep is one of the first companies in the world that in the era of consumer 3D printers decided to produce large format devices directed to the industry. And when I write “large format“, I mean really big working areas at 1 meter in the XYZ axes. Today, these dimensions do not impress anyone anymore, but in 2013-2015 BigRep belonged to the avant-garde. This strategy has brought the expected results – the company not only supplies its machines to customers such as Ford Motor Company, Volvo Car Corporation, BASF, Bosch Rexroth or AIRBUS SAS, but also is celebrating the sale of the 500th 3D printer.
The sale of the 500th device is another big news from the BigRep camp, which recently launched the division in Boston – BigRep 3D PARTLAB, which is providing large-scale 3D printing services for details made of thermoplastic materials, then introduced four new engineering class materials to the offer: PA6 / 66, PET-CF, PLX and BVOH and finally presented a new 3D printer – STUDIO G2 with a working area of 500 x 1000 x 500 mm.
The 500th system is BigRep ONE, purchased by JAMADE GERMANY, which specializes in e-mobility. JAMADE produces underwater scooters – AMAZEA, which are the first devices of this type in the world that use details produced on 3D printers. Scooters in 75% consist of elements created in additive technology.
BigRep was founded by René Gurek, who died last year. The company currently employs 90 employees – it has a production plant in Berlin, Germany and offices in Boston and Singapore.
