BASF acquires Sculpteo

BASF is one of those companies about which information often appears in our website. Undertakings and subsequent acquisitions have led BASF to become one of the most important concerns in the additive technology industry. Today, the chemical giant announced the acquisition of Sculpteo, which is one of the longest operating and best known companies providing comprehensive 3D printing services in Europe.

Most likely, Sculpteo’s management staff in both Paris and San Francisco will remain in place, and Sculpteo CEO will remain Clément Moreau. To date, no details of the acquisition have been published – but it is known that the deal will be approved by regulatory authorities and will come into force in the next few weeks.

According to Dr. Dietmar Bender, managing director of BASF 3D Printing, BASF decided to take over Sculpteo to provide customers and partners with even faster access to innovative 3D printing solutions. The common goal of both companies is to set a new standard for serial production using additive technologies.

Sculpteo offers a wide range of 3D printing services in 10 technologies, with over 70 consumables. BASF plans to transform the current Sculpteo platform into a global network, claiming that existing customers and partners will still be able to benefit from cooperation in the field of additive technologies. Clément Moreau, CEO and co-founder of Sculpteo, adds that joining the BASF team will allow them to use the group’s knowledge resources, which will provide their clients with the opportunity to use innovative solutions.
