AddUp – a French manufacturer of industrial 3D metal printers, announced the appointment of Julien Marcilly as CEO. Marcilly joined the company in 2019 as deputy CEO, after spending 15 years in management positions at the Fives Group, which founded AddUp in 2015 in a joint venture with Michelin. Marcilly replaced former CEO Frank Moreau.
AddUp specializes in the production of machines based on fusing metal powders with a laser beam, used in industrial applications. The company’s solutions are used by, among others: Thales and Zed. The company’s new CEO is convinced of the position of this technology, which is changing the way parts are produced in large industrial companies, and as CEO he will focus on productivity and repeatability, sustainable development, software monitoring and data management.
“AddUp is an additive manufacturing manufacturer built on the pedigree of our industry pioneer parent companies: Michelin and Fives,” says Marcilly. “We understand the world of production because we were born from it. We understand industrial challenges because we have lived them ourselves. That’s why we’re industrializing additive manufacturing. We know how to leverage, qualify and scale them, making it a reliable and repeatable solution for our customers.”
As CEO of Fives Conveying, Marcilly was responsible for equipping the world’s largest car manufacturers with intelligent automation solutions. Previously, Marcilly served as Chief Operating Officer at Fives Stein, supporting large projects and optimizing production lines for steel and glass producers in Europe, Asia, North and South America. According to a press release, AddUp plans to leverage Marcilly’s experience in international manufacturing challenges such as supply chain disruption, technology adoption, automation and sustainability to expand and enter new markets.
“AddUp not only has best-in-class PBF and DED machines, but also a best-in-class service team that fully supports our customers throughout their additive manufacturing journey, from design to production and qualification,” Marcilly added. “I’m excited about the prospect of additive manufacturing and proud to be at the forefront of AddUp, industrializing the technology to solve manufacturers’ toughest challenges. I look forward to leading such an innovative company and driving the growth of our industry.”
