There are about 314 million blind and visually handicapped people in the world. They life is hard. A group of Polish volunteers decided to do something to change this situation. They have already started on INDIEGOGO with their unique campaign.
Parsee are 3D printed, intelligent glasses, dedicated to blind and visually handicapped users. The applied technology lets to recognise a text, shapes, faces or colours and than transforms it in form of sound and sends it to user by headphones.
A similar model of intelligent glasses is available on the market, but it is very expensive and not user friendly. The authors of the project stress, that the products of their rivals are not suitable for all of the needs of blind and visually handicapped users. The creators of Parsee want to make their invention available totally for free! The organisation is collecting money for improving of a prototype of the glasses. Until now, they have financed it on their own.
The intelligent glasses are recommended above all to people who own a smartphone, which is a brain of the whole system. The kit consists obviously on 3D printed glasses with storage batteries, which can be charged by micro USA, IP cameras, which catches a view and headphones which register information which comes to ears of a user.
How does it work? When a user wants to recognise a text or any item, he clicks on „Photo” button. This photo is sent to smartphone, when it is converted into a sound.
The aim of the campaign is noble and the prize is unique. A donor receives a T-shirt (when he sends 50$). He can also choose a person in need, who receives a Parsee kit (when he sends 199$) or become a member of the stuff, who is responsible for the projects (for 1000$). The creators want to collect 25 000$. Until now they have earned 750$. The campaign will last one month and will be founded, even the goal of the campaign won’t be achieved.
Regardless of the aesthetics of the whole campaign and marketing materials used to present it, the idea is praiseworthy and I recommend to back it with at least 1 $.
