3D Systems presented a new 3D printer – MJP 300 W with the VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby material dedicated to producing jewelry using the 3D printing method. According to the company, its machine is the most advanced and versatile 3D wax printer to date.
MJP 300 W uses two new printing modes: QHD and UHD. QHD mode provides over 50% better resolution on all axes (i.e. 2000 dpi in X, 1800 dpi in Y, 2900 dpi in Z) and a layer thickness of 9.5 µm. This means achieving a better surface finish and less post-processing. It also allows you to print more complex designs where polishing is impractical or impossible.
Alternatively, UHD mode offers 2x faster 3D printing speeds than XHD on the company’s older ProJet MJP 2500W Plus device, has increased throughput and reduces finishing and polishing work. 3D Systems claims that the availability of four printing modes (i.e. QHD, UHD, XHD, ZHD) provides greater flexibility in scheduling work for both day and night shifts.
New material – VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby is a durable, temperature-stable pure wax that provides an optimal combination of flexible material properties and good dimensional stability in high-temperature environments. This allows the details of the most intricate jewelry designs to be retained during the molding process, reducing the likelihood of breakage or deformation. 3D Systems claims that designs made from this material have increased thermal stability compared to the recently introduced VisiJet Wax Jewel Red. It also allows for pre-positioning of stones, which speeds up the production of finished details.
3D Systems has also made it easier to monitor 3D printing progress with the addition of industrial lighting that can be placed on the printer or on an adjacent surface to improve visibility. Reliability has also been improved through modifications to the print head. This allows the heads to last longer and reduces costs by reducing the frequency of their replacement.
Both MJP 300W and VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby will be available for purchase from November 2023.
