3D Systems has announced cooperation with the Japanese company SWANY, under which they will jointly promote large-format 3D printing technology using granules. As part of the partnership, SWANY will open a new demonstration center with the Systems EXT 1070 Titan Pellet 3D printer – the first of its kind in Japan. The center will open in October 2023.
The Titan 3D printer will be used to present the possibilities of 3D printing using granulate extrusion technology for the production of large parts in additive and subtractive technology. SWANY will also offer 3D printing services, including design support, for prototyping and manufacturing various applications in the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, the two companies will jointly develop new 3D printing parameters for mass production and recycled materials in the form of pellets. This is to contribute to more sustainable additive manufacturing. This collaboration is intended to serve a variety of applications, including the UCWS (Upcycling Wokspace) recycling initiative to promote sustainable production.
EXT Titan Pellet 3D printers are recognized as one of the leading options in the plastic 3D printing market. Titan 3D printers are used in a variety of industries, including the aerospace, automotive, foundry, consumer and general manufacturing sectors. The device uses granules, which allows for a 10-fold reduction in material costs and a wider range of functional materials compared to traditional filament-based 3D printers.
The 3D printer has a very large working area of 106 x 106 x 122 cm and a printing speed 10 times faster than in traditional 3D printers based on filaments. The EXT 1070 Titan Pellet model purchased by SWANY includes both heads for additive and subtractive production – granulate extruder and milling spindle.
