3D Systems and Stewart-Haas Racing, a leading NASCAR racing team, have entered into a three-year partnership to improve the speed and efficiency of racing cars. The team uses industrial photopolymer 3D printers ProX 800 and Figure 4 Standalone, using them to produce prototypes and final parts used in cars. From now on, thanks to technical support from 3D Systems, Stewart-Haas Racing will be able to design, prototype and create durable parts even faster.
For the NASCAR team, perfecting automotive components designed to increase speed and efficiency is an essential ingredient for success. Stewart-Haas Racing uses the ProX 800 3D printer to quickly design and produce large aero parts with a smooth surface finish and precise dimensional accuracy for wind tunnel testing. The Figure 4 Standalone, on the other hand, is used for direct production of the television camera, submachine gun and parts for service trolleys, as well as many other prototype parts.
Oqton’s Geomagic Wrap 3D 3D scanning and imaging software is also an integral part of the manufacturing process. The team uses them to collect 3D scan data from car components, process them and create digital design files to compare shape deviations. In addition, Sprint 3D Systems 3D software is used to prepare and optimize CAD data and manage the additive manufacturing process on both types of 3D printers.
The two companies will make their first appearance together at the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener on February 18, 2023 at Daytona (FL) International Speedway with the 3D Systems logo on the #00 Ford Mustang driven by Cole Custer.
