3D Systems today announced the enrichment of the range of available materials with new materials. For the company, this is another step on the way to building the most comprehensive plastics portfolio among companies in the additive technology industry. All of the materials presented by 3D Systems are dedicated to the production in SLA technology, on the Figure 4 device. In addition, measures for post-processing 3D prints have also been introduced.
The company admits that it wants to open up to new applications that can be used by representatives of various industries. According to Menno Ellis, responsible for the production of materials for 3D printing in the field of plastics, in the process of creating new solutions the experience of the team members has proved irreplaceable. As a result, plastics have been created that will allow cost-effective production with consistent quality.
The portfolio has been enriched with RUBBER-65A BLK rubber material, compatible with Figure 4. The material is presented as suitable for industrial applications due to its strength and resistance to external exposure. The material allows the production of elastomer parts with a high degree of accuracy, including seals or components to absorb vibration. What’s more, the material complies with the requirements of ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10, so that the elements made of it can be used for 3D printing of biocompatible elements for medical applications.
The offer also includes two materials for post-processing of models made of casting resins – Accura Patch and Accura Bond. Accura Patch is a product designed for masking drain holes, through which excess unalloyed resin is drained. In turn, Accura Bond is a kind of high-viscosity glue, created to connect fragments of 3D print together. The preparations will be available in July this year.
3D Systems has also enriched its portfolio with a proposal for the jewelry industry. JEWEL MASTER GRY is a material dedicated to creating high-quality silicone jewelry molds and prototype models. The material allows for the production of high quality and accuracy elements, which makes it also suitable for making silicone molds. Meets the requirements of ISO 10933-5 in the field of biocompatibility.
