Spectrum Filaments – a leading manufacturer of filaments for FDM / FF 3D printers, has prepared a whole bunch of product novelties for the upcoming Formnext fair in Frankfurt am Main. In just a week, the company will present a new line of filaments directed to the industry – among them there will be, among others materials based on polyamide PA6, PET-G or ABS. The new line is called Spectrum Industrial.
All filaments have the “Verify Your Spool” system, enabling the customer to check the diameter process, mean diameter, ovality and standard deviation independently for each spool. The filaments from the Industrial series are packed in aluminum vacuum bags with a ZIP-Lock closure, which allows the material to be re-protected against moisture after being removed from the 3D printer.
The Spectrum Industrial product line includes the following materials:
PA Neat is a new, highly functional filament based on PA6 polyamide. The material allows long-term operation of applications made from it at a temperature of 120°C, while maintaining sufficient mechanical properties. PA6 Neat is characterized by low processing shrinkage (0.3%), which makes it an ideal filament for making durable prints exposed to high mechanical and thermal loads.
PA6 CF15 is a black, high temperature construction material based on PA6 polyamide. The 15% carbon fiber filling significantly increases the strength of printed elements. The characteristic feature of this material is half the moisture absorption compared to pure PA6. 3D printing does not require a closed work chamber. The thermal deformation temperature is 240°C, while the short-term operating temperature is 180°C.
PA6 GK10 is another of the new series of industrial materials. Filling with glass balls makes it more flexible compared to polyamide PA6, which is its material base. A characteristic feature is the low moisture and temperature effects on measurements and electrical properties compared to PA66. The filament is characterized by low linear shrinkage (does not exceed 0.3 – 0.5%) and a relatively high operating temperature (160°C).
PET-G HT100 is a filament with high chemical resistance, styrene-free. It is a material with a slight perceptible smell, having approval for contact with food. Excellent dimensional stability allows 3D printing of objects with accurate dimensions, which is particularly important for projects consisting of many elements. One of the biggest advantages of PET-G HT100 is the increased temperature resistance of 100°C.
PET-G FX120 is a filament for engineering applications. It is characterized by excellent durability and strength. With Shore A 95 hardness, exceptional chemical resistance and heat resistance (120°C) that allows steam sterilization, users can use the material to manufacture components related to prosthetics, orthoses, auto parts or various consumer products.
It is the easiest carbon-filled material available on the market in 3D printing. There are no problems with retraction and there is no need to use a heated working chamber. It shows an excellent surface finish straight out of the 3D printer, thus reducing the need for subsequent processing. The filament is also characterized by a very wide range of long-term operation temperature, as well as a very high short-term operation temperature reaching up to 125°C.
ABS GP450 is a structural filament for 3D printing. This material is very useful for printing durable and impact-resistant parts. The material composition has been optimized for 3D printing, so thanks to ABS GP450 the user can print at high speed (up to 200 mm/s) without losing mechanical properties. ABS GP450 exhibits significantly higher mechanical strength than other similar materials available on the market.
PP filament is a new material based on unfilled polypropylene in natural color. A characteristic feature is the low moisture absorption, not more than 0.3%. In addition, the Spectrum PP filament is characterized by high elasticity (elongation up to breaking – 500%), high impact resistance and a reduced moment of inertia compared to metal parts.
