Most of you know brand Polaroid. It’s associated especially with photo cameras which can print out immediate pictures. In the 90s this brand was really popular. Unfortunatelly this company didn’t stand the test of time and suffered a defeat in fight with digital cameras. In 2007 it stopped producing cameras and a few years later declared bankruptcy but after a while it came back, totally restructured.

When you visit Polaroid’s website, you’re surprised with a multitude of devices which they have in their offer. You can find there:  photo cameras, cameras, sport cameras, tablets, TVs, audio devices or even T-shirts or hoodies.

In the offer you can find also a 3D printer 3D ModelSmart 250S, presented recently on trade CES 2016. It’s surely one of the biggest astonishments presented in Las Vegas, not because of the application of revolutionary technologies but because of the fact that no one expected this kind of device of Polaroid. It’s a Plug and Play printer with automatic calibration of the bed equiped with WiFi camera. When you upload a proper application for your smartphone, you can watch the whole progress of printing. Thanks to removable bed made from glass you can remove your printouts quickly.

This 3D printer has a work area of 250x150x150 mm, resolution of 50-350 µ and speed of print 20-100 mm/s. Printouts are done from filament of  1,75 mm diameter.

Polaroid signes also software to create 3D projects, called Polaroid Prep, which was created with cooperation with  Environmental Business Products Ltd.  This company produces also cartriges in 9 colours with PLA filament and with a “wooden” filament. ModelSmart 250S, most probably doesn’t have heated bed (marketing sheets don’t inform us about it) and in proper materials you can read only about PLA and Wood.

This 3D printer is distinguished by very interesting design with a rainbow which is characteristic to the brand. This model will be available in this year and it will be sold only in 15 European countries.
