How do new technologies help companies achieve sustainable development? Can plastics be more ecological than paper? Can 3D printing help reduce the carbon footprint and costs of modern production processes? These are just some of the questions that the organizers of this year’s Pomeranian 3D Printing Days conference want to answer, which will take place on September 19, 2023 at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia.
Famous designers, industry experts, exhibitors from all over Poland, presentation of the latest achievements, educational workshops, discussions about trends and a large dose of current knowledge. This is briefly the seventh edition of the event, which this year will be held under the slogan “sustainability”. It is addressed to all companies that are looking for savings in production processes and want to develop in the spirit of sustainable development, using 3D printing technology. Participation in the event is free of charge.
Pomeranian Printing Days is a conference that has grown from an intimate meeting of 3D printing enthusiasts to one of the most important events in this industry in Poland. This year’s program promises to be exceptionally interesting. There will be no shortage of names of top experts and pressing topics in the area of sustainable development, i.e. recovery of plastics, the use of biodegradable materials, reducing the carbon footprint in production and energy saving, as well as issues related to the use of 3D printing in advertising.
The organizers’ invitation was accepted by, among others, designer Łukasz Pączkowski, known as Zulu Kuki. He is a designer and multidisciplinary artist who willingly uses modern technologies in his works. One of its most recognizable products is footwear produced using a 3D printer. Recently, his installation was placed on the Gdynia beach as part of the Gdynia Design Days festival.
Where did the idea for the slogan: “Sustainability” come from? This is how the co-organizers of the project describe the idea: – Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia is the largest innovation hub in Poland. By supporting innovative projects, we try to do it in a wise and responsible way, while responding to the needs of the modern economy. The main goal of sustainable development is to achieve a balance between economic and social progress and environmental protection. This approach perfectly reflects the spirit in which we operate every day. Therefore, this year’s slogan “sustainability” is a natural response to the socio-economic challenges that entrepreneurs face today, and 3D printing technology is one of the tools that allows us to meet these challenges. – says Anna Borkowska, director of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia.
We are still in the post-covid era, where the trend of sustainable development is intertwined with the period of economic downturn and a new perspective in EU funding. The development of the 3D printing industry strives to meet current socio-economic challenges. That is why during the next edition we want to talk about closed material circulation in 3D printing. We will present the possibilities of recovering materials and reusing them. We will present operational processes using 3D technology, which focus on local production and allow entrepreneurs to become independent from today’s capricious global supply chains and reduce CO2 emissions. Invited speakers will also talk about available opportunities for financing business activities based on sustainable development using specific business examples. – says Michał Pęczek from Bibus Menos.
During the next edition of the Pomeranian 3D Printing Days, we would like to not only discuss the current challenges facing the 3D printing community, but also target companies implementing and pursuing sustainable development goals, representing many sectors of the economy. Both at PPNT Gdynia and the Gdańsk Science and Technology Park, we work every day with companies that tell us about their needs and are looking for interesting solutions and development opportunities. The event will be complemented by educational workshops, the topics of which will also refer to the issue of sustanablility. Their goal is to develop skills related to 3D technologies and reverse engineering, taking into account the idea of sustainable development in the aspects of education, equality
gender, innovation and responsible production. The workshops will be led by Mirosław Pałysiewicz – an expert in the field of 3D technology, an experienced trainer and mentor who has been actively involved in education in the area of new technologies and gender equality for years.
There will also be an exhibition part, during which the latest technological and material solutions will be presented, and will traditionally be an opportunity for behind-the-scenes talks and networking.
